In this workshop, we'll share and learn ideas and activities using AI to improve students' learning experiences. We'll explore practical examples and hands-on activities, aiming to empower participants to effectively integrate AI tools into their teaching practices for a more engaging and personalized learning journey. The goal is to create a collaborative space where educators collectively contribute to advancing the role of AI in optimizing student learning.
Guest Speaker: Mahmoud Azaz PH.D.
This workshop focuses on the use of interactive task-based learning to enhance language proficiency at the novice and intermediate levels in Arabic classrooms. Participants will discover the potential of interactive task-based learning and will be given access to free educational resources for the teaching of Arabic, including sample learning tasks, lesson plans, and interactions. In groups, participants will have the chance to adapt these learning tasks to meet the need of their students using AI.

Through creative use of the target language, students actively construct meaningful products that address authentic challenges and engage with real-life problems.

In this workshop, we'll learn how AI can support you in the design of units, lessons, activities and assessments that build and demonstrate Global Competencies. During this program we will review key understandings around what AI is, what it does well, and the challenges AI might present. That foundation will support us as we review how to intentionally select and leverage AI tools for the various components of the teaching and learning cycle. We will also touch on tools students can use safely and other ways to support students to develop the new skills they will need in an AI-integrated world.
